Accommodation:
There is no residential accommodation available at Kilquhanity. However,
there will be space for 30 tents allocated on first booked basis, these
spaces will be free of charge. Further camping space at the back of Knockvennie
Hall is available with bathroom facilities, a donation to hall funds will
be requested.
Car Parking: There
will be no car parking on Kilquhanity Site. We will negotiate car parking
within walking distance of Kilquhanity, probably behind the lodge in McTaggarts
land, this will be confirmed and a small charge may be incurred.
Food: Because
the main kitchen cannot be used we are having to make other arrangements.
At the moment there are three options.
1) A daily communal Bar-B-Q area
with free fuel will be provided for you to cook your own food.
2) Gavin has kindly offered to
provide meals during certain periods, see “Gavin's Gourmet Guide”
on the website for his menu, prices and availability.
3) There is also the possibility
of using a local catering company for the evening meals, but they will
only come if the numbers make it worth their while, see “Caterbirds”
on the website for their menu and prices.

Caterbirds will supply all food,
crockery, cutlery and staff to serve and clear.
So, have a look at what's on offer
and let us know if you want to have a Caterbirds meal either on the Friday
or the Saturday. The daily communal Bar-B-Q and Gavin's ad hoc food will
be available anyway but we do need to let CaterBirds know by the end of
May if we have the right numbers for them to attend either the Friday
or the Saturday so you need to let us know now please. If we don't hear
from you by the end of May we will assume you will be self catering of
eating with Gavin!!
Drinks Bar: There
will be a bar which will serve drinks and snacks, see the page on the
website. You can of course bring your own refreshments.
Toilets: Toilets
on the premises will be available, further portaloos will be rented if
necessary. There are no shower facilities available on site. The river's
looking good!
Bands and Dances:
These will be held outside, weather permitting. If raining we will move
into the newly re-furbished stable but bear in mind that this building
will only accommodate smaller numbers for comfortable dancing.
Charges and Security:
Wristbands will be sent out/issued to you when your payment is received,
£5 for Friday and £10 for Saturday per person. Individuals
without a wristband on the day and unable to demonstrate that payment
has been made will be expected to pay for the relevant day.
Please make payment by Cash or
Cheque enclosing a strong stamped, self-addressed envelope to:
Andrew Pyle, Kilquhanity Children's
Village, Castle Douglas, DG7 3DB
or by bank transfer to:
Kilquhanity Children's Village
SOS Fund
Sort Code: 80-06-11
Account Number: 06003499.
Let us know your requirements
as soon as you can please - number of tickets for each day and, if camping,
number of tents and on which nights. There will of course be some people,
because of circumstances, who will turn up and pay on the day and that's
fine. However, it will be a great help to us to have an idea of
the likely numbers so if you know for sure you can come then please
let us know sooner than later. See the regularly updated list of who
is definitely coming on the website.
ONE FINAL IMPORTANT NOTE:
We would ask all visitors to respect
that the Estate is now owned and occupied by Japanese students and staff
who are keen practitioners of progressive, free school education and
have a culture in which kindness and respect for others in all aspects
of interaction is of utmost importance.
Bookings can be made as from today.
